Short version: we don’t want your health information, and we don’t sell your data.
- No accounts are needed to use this site.
- No analytics trackers. We don’t use analytics or tracking pixels.
- Site search runs entirely in your browser; your searches aren’t sent to us.
- Ask the Guide (when enabled): please don’t enter names, member numbers, Social Security numbers, birth dates, or diagnoses. The page tries to remove numbers that look like those before sending. We don’t store question text by default. Rate limiting uses a short-lived, hashed form of your IP address.
- Newsletter (when launched): we’ll store only your email address, to send the newsletter. Unsubscribe anytime.
- Hosting: our host (Cloudflare) processes standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
- Children: this site isn’t directed at children under 13.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads from Google AdSense on some guide pages to keep the site free. When ads are on:
- On guide pages, Google’s AdSense script file is included in the page, but it is set to make no ad requests until you click “Accept ads cookies” in the notice at the bottom of the page. If you choose “No thanks,” or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, ad requests stay paused. Loading the script file itself does connect your browser to Google’s servers.
- Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and control ad personalization at Google My Ad Center.
- We never show ads or include ad code on our search, Ask the Guide, community, forms, contact, or legal pages, so what you search for or ask stays out of ad systems.
- We don’t sell your personal information or send health information to advertisers. We block predatory ad categories where AdSense allows it.
- To change your choice, clear this site’s stored data in your browser; the notice will appear again.
Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (key acv-ads-consent), not on our servers.
